When my best gal friend and I decided we’d go out for lunch this past Friday, we had one place in mind. Gaetano’s Pizzeria & Creamery at 121st & Elm in Jenks. Being that we work in Jenks, we are always beyond thrilled when a new place opens up for us to dine. And who doesn’t love pizza right?

Gaetano's

The manager was very friendly and patient with us as we took our time studying the menu and trying to make a decision, throwing out some of his favorites. I decided on the Lunch Special which is a generous slice of their hand tossed pizza, a side salad, and a drink. All for $6.95. You can pick any one topping you want on your pizza for that price, and add additional for 25 cents each. I went with pepperoni and black olive, my two favorite toppings in the world. And I also ordered some garlic knots. Because I am a girl who loves her garlic and her carbs.

The atmosphere was quite nice. Well decorated and very clean.

Inside

We didn’t wait long at all for our food which was great. They brought my salad first, then my knots, then my pizza. It looked so good I started chomping away before I remembered that I wanted to get photos. Here are the garlic knots, minus a couple. Hey, we were hungry.

And then my delicious pizza. The crust was perfectly crisp and chewy, just as it should be.

My poor salad wasn’t photographed because it was already residing in my stomach. Let me tell you though, that salad was not just some iceberg tossed around with some dressing. It was a bed of mixed greens, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, red onion, black olives, croutons, and cheese. It was quite a fancy little salad. I left feeling very satisfied and with enough garlic knots leftover to take back to work and share with some others who I know would enjoy them.

If you aren’t in the mood for pizza, they also have baked pastas and oven toasted subs available. Or if you feel like ordering an entire pizza instead of just a slice there are so many options. They have many specialty pizzas as well as calzones to choose from. And what might just be the best part of it all? There is ice cream! Oh yes. There is an ice cream counter up front where you have about 15 or so flavors to choose from. Seriously, I could have spent another 20 minutes just staring at ice cream flavors. I may have to just order a small salad next time so I can devote my time to their ice cream selections.

Well done Gaetano’s. I know you’ll be seeing me again real soon.

Next time I’m in Jenks, let’s go there for lunch.

(I love black olives and pepperoni too!)

I’ve never had a garlic knot. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of them. But, hot damn, they look good!

If I hadn’t have sat in probably the exact same seat the interior photo was taken from, I’d wonder if I was in the wrong restaurant! I took my husband here, based entirely on this review! Gross… This was terrible… The lettuce was warm, on a totally boring and old salad. I asked for lemon for my tea. “We don’t have any, we had to throw them away because they were old.” (So is your lettuce.) The knots were doughy, with garlic powder and greasy topping… The pizza? undercooked and extremely bland. We split a small, couldn’t finish a piece each, and trust me when I say… We can put away a good pizza! We also ordered lasagna… one bite each was enough to tell us, someone shops at Sam’s besides Grandma! $34 later, we left and stopped by Reasor’s on our way home. A frozen $5 Tony’s pizza looked so much better…
