Country Bob’s BBQ Chicken Pizza :: Contest!

August 20th, 2009 by Staff – Comments (47)

This ain’t no ordinary pizza! The best ingredient by far is the Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce (available at http://www.countrybobs.com ). Marinating the chicken in the sauce mixture (Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce + Country Bob’s BBQ Sauce) overnight was the most important step in this process. We decided to use the remainder of the Marinade mixture to cook and caramelize the chicken…it turned out fabulous and filled the house with a sweet and spicy aroma!

inside-Reasors

The ingredients for this delectable concoction were gathered at the newly opened Reasor’s Grocery Store in Jenks, OK. The Jenks location is the latest of Oklahoma’s 15 locations. Started in Tahlequah, Reasor’s has been a huge part of the Tulsa area since 1963. After an hour of exploring this new found treasure in the heart of Jenks, we drove home in hopes of creating a masterpiece, and I don’t mean KC, Country Bob’s.

After preparing the ingredients for the time of their life, the end result was a pizza made in Heaven. With 2 layers of colby jack cheese in between a mixture of sweet onions + fresh green peppers + amazingly marinated, diced chicken. To top it all off, Country Bob’s BBQ sauce (available at http://www.countrybobs.com) was drizzled across the circumference of the pizza creating a once in a lifetime experience! You will be blown away…Thanks Country Bob!!!

Here is the recipe so you can try it for yourself!

2 Cups Chopped Chicken
1/4 cup Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce
1/4 cup Country Bob’s Barbecue Sauce
1 Package pizza crust mix/prepared
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded Colby jack cheese
1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced

Marinate the chicken in a mixture of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce and Country Bob’s Barbecue Sauce in the refrigerator for 1 hour to overnight. Drain the chicken, discarding the marinade (We altered this part and cooked the chicken in the marinade). Stir-fry the chicken in a skillet or wok until cooked through. Set aside. Pat the pizza dough into a pizza pan dusted generously with cornmeal. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the cheese. Add layers of the chicken, the remaining 1/2 cup cheese, green pepper and onion. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Yield: 2-4 Servings

About Country Bob’s:

I bet it would be really good if you put bacon and jalapenos on it too! I am anxious to see how the taste of the all purpose sauce and the BBQ sauce mix in the pizza. I have heard really great things about Country Bob’s sauce, so this is perfect.

Yum…I wouldn’t have thought to use that sauce for this…I am gluten intolerant so it is great to have a recipe to try at home when I make my own gluten free pizza crust! Also love the new Reasor’s great store and lot’s of gluten free options!

I wonder how this recipe compares with Hideaway’s BBQ chicken pizza… I think adding more peppers would take it to the next level. I had some Country Bob’s on steak the other day and I was thinking that it would be really good with fajitas too! I am so excited to see what recipes they have in the cookbook!

What a beautiful pizza. Way to go Country Bob’s. I am so tired of pizza at the regular pizza joints. It isn’t always consistent. To many times overcooked. I am always looking for a new idea for dinner. Now look what you can make in your own home. BBQ has become so popular throughout the years (not just in OKLA) but here in Calif. too. This is something that I will have to try. Thanks for the recipe and all the great pictures, it’s like a step by step recipe. The new Reasor’s looks some inviting too. Thanks again Tulsa Food Blog for another great recipe.

Mmmm! I’ve never had bbq pizza and I’ve never heard of Country Bob’s but this makes me want to try both. I have to admit though, it’s the spa coupon that caused me to make a comment. I had the opportunity to visit once and can’t wait to go back! Pick me! Pick me!
