Tucci’s…Wonderful Lunchtime Experience

September 30th, 2009 by Whitney Shae – Comments (7)

Its a beautiful morning, and I get a phone call from a good friend that is in town! She had just gotten out of class at OSU-Tulsa, and asks me if I would like to go to lunch today.  Since she is new to Tulsa, she asks if there is a place I recommend close to campus. I told her that I really wanted to try a new place that I have never tried before because there are so many great restaurants in Tulsa that I have still yet to try.

Tucci’s on Cherry Street was a perfect place to take a friend for lunch. I have heard that this locally owned Italian restaurant is an amazing place for dinner, so I knew their lunch would be amazing as well. I was so impressed by the service, and the atmosphere but outdoor seating really added a whole other element to the experience, not to mention the weather was perfect that day! Surrounded by business men and women, girlfriends going out to lunch, and retired couples wanting a getaway, this was a perfect spot. Dim lighting, a very well illuminated bar, and exceptional style made the interior of this place is incredible! Next time I will go back for dinner in the evening and request to sit inside!

Now…the food. Wow! I have never had a piece of pizza that elaborate and tasty. My friend and I both ordered the lunch portion: Chicken Florentine Pizza, which included a Lemonata salad. The Lemonata salad came out a few minutes after ordering, and was a beautiful placement of spring greens, crisp romaine, garden embellishments and homemade Lemonata dressing. It was very light and delicious. The perfect amount of greens and dressing. The pizza had a thick, soft crust topped with a thin layer of Tucci’s famous red sauce topped with spinach, chicken, feta cheese, Roma tomatoes, and pine-nuts. What a beautiful creation! I almost fell out of my chair when I took that first bite! .

Tucci’s is very reasonably priced. The lunch portion that we ordered is $7.50 everyday. There are also daily pasta specials which always come with pasta, salad and foccacia bread for $8.00. Each day of the week is a new special. Not to mention your calzone of choice with a side salad, also for $8.00. What a great deal for fresh, homemade Italian! I will definitely go back very soon, only next time for dinner!

I love going there at night. It is so romantic inside! I bet it would be perfect on a crisp fall night outside…

    Zach,

We love Tuccis! I can’t wait to go back for dinner. I have only tried lunch there, but have heard from many that it is one of the most romantic places in Tulsa.

Really? I have been there 4 or 5 times over the past few years, and have never been impressed! The food is run of the mill, it’s noisy as hell, even when only half-full and the service is lacking. I went back a couple of months ago for lunch to try it again, and it took over an hour to get a slice of pizza and the pasta special! Apparently they made the wrong thing, and had to start over. By the time the correct dish was ready, we had to leave to get back to work. Eating mediocre pizza out of a Styrofoam box in traffic is not what I consider to be a nice lunch.

    Jenny,
That is a bummer experience. I’m sorry about that.
