Beautiful weather, awesome friends, and sweet margaritas. It was a beautiful Saturday night and some of my friends were in town. We decided to meet for a late dinner and drinks at El Guapo Cantina which is located in the Blue Dome District here in Tulsa. First of all, the building itself is impressive. With three floors of festive dining, this local Mexican restaurant has so many dining possibilities. We decided to wait a little longer to get the rooftop seating, which was well worth it! In case you haven’t heard, El Guapo is Tulsa’s only rooftop restaurant and has a beautiful view of the downtown skyline. With bright lights surrounding the rooftop Cantina, we talked and laughed the night away while enjoying delicious food and drinks.
Starting off with complimentary homemade chips and salsa was a great treat, but we were craving the famous guacamole that everyone talks about! I was, of course, not the least bit disappointed! It was very rich, chunky, and had a beautiful bright green appearance. After digging into the awesome guacamole, we ordered a small Margarita. I have been craving a good Margarita, so I ordered the Margarita De La Casa, which was a perfect mix of tequila and lime,…it was bomb-dizzle! A few of my friends also ordered a few drinks from the rooftop Cantina.
After glancing at the menu for about 30 minutes, we made a decision on an entree’. I shared the appetizer chicken quesadillas with my friend since we had filled up on chips and guacamole. Loaded with chunks of white meat chicken and stringy Colby-jack cheese, these quesadillas gave my taste buds a whirl and created a party in my mouth! My friend’s chicken/beef fajitas came out sizzling from the kitchen, and filled the room with an aroma of fresh peppers and seasonings. They were also served with all the fixins: flour tortillas, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheddar jack cheese, shredded lettuce, and guacamole. Another of my friends ordered a chimichanga that looked like it could feed a whole family. Just kidding, but it was huge! It was a large flour tortilla filled with house-smoked chicken, green chilis and jack cheese then deep fried to a golden brown crisp! Yumm…but that’s not all…then it was covered in white queso, avocado, salsa verde and served with poblano rice and beans.
I was thoroughly impressed by both the service and the atmosphere at El Guapo. I highly recommend the rooftop Cantina, especially for a night out with friends!

I love their margaritas. I firmly believe they are the best in the city. The rooftop is amazing. But I just don’t like the food. I WANT to like the food. I just haven’t had aything there that I like.

They have the best atmosphere and some of the tastiest food but horrible service, too. I’ve been three times and have had trouble each time. If you’re not too hungry or rushed, it’s really worth it. However, it’s tough when they’re late on the drinks, too…
