Steak. Hmm. When you think “steak”, the first few restaurants that come to your mind may be a chain restaurant right? Well, I’m here to tell you, you need to think “steak” again. But this time think local-Locally owned that is and on Main Street no less!
In 2001, Larry Dooley opened Dooley’s Angus Inn at 201 Main St. in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He didn’t realize the impact and the reach that that moment would have.
The restaurant was recently named “Broken Arrow’s Top Steak House” by the Broken Arrow Ledger and chosen as the “Top-3 Steak House Destination” in Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Restaurant Association.
“From the tea to the desserts, if it doesn’t have the ‘Wow factor’-it doesn’t go out,” said Larry. That attitude has made Dooley’s Angus Inn a favorite of patrons for miles.
You’ve heard of southern fried chicken right? Well, Larry and his staff have been serving up Tulsa’s only Southern-Fried Ribeye in the state! Love chocolate? How about trying the 14-Layer Chocolate Cake? Yes, fourteen layers! Finish off your delicious meal with a fantastic (and delicious) dessert!
Larry didn’t just pick up a cookbook off the shelf and call himself a chef. He’s actually been mentored by the world’s best: Master Chef George Wentzel.
The story is amazing and a portion of it goes like this. Wentzel was the personal chef of Hotel Magnet, Conrad Hilton and cooked for two United States Presidents. Larry took the expertise he had, sautéed it with Wentzel’s secrets and launched Oklahoma’s “Best Kept Secret”: Dooley’s Angus Inn. Larry is humble about his recipes and his awards, but his customers know this restaurant is special and that’s probably why they keep coming back.
The restaurant fills with retirees to young families who enjoy the wide variety of dining choices and the social events at Dooleys Angus Inn year round.
The last Thursday night of each month the crowd enjoys live music by well-known artist Lugi Balleto. Single? Come out and try Speed Dating in February and March.
Dooley’s Angus Inn recently launch their Social Media presence with Facebook and Twitter and a Youtube channel. You can keep up with what’s new at Dooley’s by watching http://Youtube.com/DooleysAngusInn Dooley’s was recently chosen by The Tulsa Food blog to be included on the Tulsa iPhone app in the digital discount section. Bailys has been around since 1974 and is 17% alcohol by volume. Dooleys was introducted in 2000 and is the same although it’s vodka based instead of whiskey. Is Mr. Dooley really that uninformed?
Who is Master Chef George Wentzel again??? How does Mr. Dooley know him?
