When I walked in to Big Daddy’s All American BBQ there were about 12-15 people in line but it went pretty fast and from there we decided to sit outside. As soon as I got my Ghetto Potato I snapped a picture and it was gone in 3 minutes. I mean check this thing out it’s awesome!

Mr. Goodcents Subs and Pastas. 81st and Harvard: I have eaten at pretty much all the “big” sub shops. I stumbled on Mr. Goodcents on a Sunday afternoon and stopped in for a sandwhich. Unlike the “big” shops, the meats were fresh, sliced on the spot and tasty, the bread was amazingly fresh and soft. The two kids working there were civil but not overly friendly which I think is standard for todays kids. The one thing to watch out for is, the large sandwich is 18 inches, not 12. I stopped in again on another Sunday afternoon. The bread was just as fresh, the meat was just as tasty. I would certainly recommend Mr. Goodcents, especially on a Sunday afternoon.

Chimi’s on 15th street in Tulsa was my second Mexican Food destination on my Tulsa lunch journey. We started with chips and salsa, two different kinds one hotter than the other it was great! I had the special for the day two shrimp enchiladas with rice and beans and extra guacamole, all excellent. My guest had a burrito and I couldn’t believe the size of it, check out that picture below. The burrito was topped with queso cheese. At Chimi’s you can top any item with queso cheese, I mean how cool is that!

I haven’t been to Cafe Ole’ in quite awhile . . . a couple of years in fact. When I went in the other day it was like I hadn’t skipped a beat and the food was still as good as ever. Ironically enough, I overheard another couple there telling people at yet another table that they had only recently discovered Cafe Ole’ and it was their new favorite place. I’m sure, like me, they enjoy the patio and the fireplace. Just as I would have 15 years ago, I still recommend Cafe Ole for a cozy place with good food.

Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe on Sheridan was a nice sweet lunch experience. I had the Laverne sandwich it was fresh chicken salad on wheat with some kettle chips and my guest had the Marlene which is a maple bacon BLT. For dessert we had some of the cake balls and yummy ginger bread cookies that had three different kinds of ginger in them. The staff was all wearing the cutest aprons which I found out were all made by the owners’ mother. They were all so cute and unique, definitely something Lulu’s might consider selling in their Shoppe I would be the first customer to buy one for sure.

Okay so I get invited by a client to go out to lunch. He mentioned that there was a wonderful Asian vegetarian restaurant that was hidden on Lewis between 61st and 71st. I had never heard of such a restaurant…asian vegetarian? I thought that they must just serve noodles and rice…couldn’t be much variety on their menu…right?
I drove right past Be Le’s and had to turn around. It really was hidden. It kinda annoyed me and I wondered if it would even be worth me turning around. But I was glad that I did.
Surprisingly, their menu is very diverse . Check it out online at http://www.belevegetarian.com . They say they are dedicated to providing healthy, meatless food to their customers…low in fat and cholesterol with no MSG. They use meat substitutes made from soybeans, seaweed, and yams…along with spices that taste similar to meats.
Honestly, the fake meat thing scared me a little but every Asian restaurant I go to I have to try their version of Sweet and Sour Chicken/Pork. So I ordered the Sweet and Sour MOCK Chicken meal. Mock? Oh crap I thought.
Well we started with spring rolls with a homemade peanut sauce. It was really good!! No joke…that peanut sauce rocked my world!!!
The great waitress laid my entrée in front of me. It looked just like a normal sweet and sour chicken meal. I just dove right in. It was really good. I could not hardly tell a difference. The rice was wonderful as well.
I strongly recommend trying Be Le Vegetarian Restaurant of Tulsa. If they were located on Cherry St. or somewhere like that, they would be overrun with traffic. Let’s support the great restaurants we have here in Tulsa.

If you’re ever in the mood for a simple BBQ sandwich then this one might make your list. In my opinion this place has got a great Po’boy BBQ sandwich. The Chili was nothing special I would say typical hot dog chili. Only thing missing is some good hole in the wall fries. I don’t think they have deep fryers. I noticed they still had variety of sandwich items like po’boys, gyros, and other typical sandwiches. I heard Bill and Ruth’s made good burgers but I guess this location does not serve burgers. I guess I will have to visit a different location. Regardless I bet I will be back for one of those BBQ sandwiches.

We’re at it again and we just had to go back to Kupcakz on Mingo in Tulsa. This time there were plenty of cupcakes to choose from, almost too many. We settled on a dozen cupcakes, four Lemon Drops zesty lemon cake with lemon curd and lemon cream cheese frosting, two Cheeky Monkeys fresh banana cake with caramel cream cheese frosting candied pecans and caramel drizzle, two Sooner than Laters silky red velvet cake smothered with mascarpone cream cheese frosting, two Not a Carrot in the Worlds walnut studded carrot cake topped with mascarpone cream cheese frosting and the holiday special two Positively Pumpkins these were pumpkin spice cake with a milk caramel cream cheese frosting and dusted with their very own pumpkin spice blend. They were all so yummy and the box only lasted 2 day. My new favorite in the box is definitely the Not a Carrot in the World but Cheeky Monkey is a close runner up! I will keep writing until I’ve tried every one so stay tuned!

Red Rock is one of those places that every time I drove by I thought that I wanted to stop in some evening. Well I finally did and I am very glad about it. A companion and I dropped in about 9:30pm on a Friday. I really like rock and rustic decor, and they have it. An open fire rotisserie greets you when you walk in the front door, and of course the smell is tremendous.
We sat outside where you can see the river and you can see the Riverwalk complex looking north up river. At Red Rock every server serves so you’re not stuck with one busy overworked waiter. Anybody that walks by will help, and they all did.

Picture From Red Rock Canyon Grill Website
We both got the rotisserie chicken dinner which is three pieces of chicken, carrots and mashed potatoes. The chicken was great, the carrots were very good. I can’t say I loved the potatoes but that may just be a matter of taste.
My companion got a bloody mary and she said it was good. I got the Perfect Margarita and I have to say it was indeed pretty darn good.
If I have any semi-negative comment, I think $15.99 for the chicken dinner was a bit high. I liked the ambiance and service and all that, but I did think the price was a bit high. The drinks were $7.00 and I don’t have a problem with that. In fact I think I got three, maybe four, servings from the margarita server.
Ok dessert. Got the key lime pie. It was great and had a huge dollop of cool whip (or whatever it is) on top. Very very good.
Now one final compliment. My companion asked for a to-go box. Somewhere in that process they forgot to box up the left over chicken. So to make up for losing the left overs, they gave us a complimentary full chicken dinner. Sure can’t complain about that.
Red Rock Canyon is one of my new favorite places. Really really nice.
