I never really expect to find a hidden treasure inside of a grocery store, but my perception changed this past week when I got invited to a business meeting in a very unusual place. When I first got the phone call to have a lunch meeting at Reasor’s grocery store in Jenks I thought to myself…Huh? I knew that Reasor’s had put a beautiful grocery store out there with a beefed up deli section, but what I didn’t realize was that this spot is quite possibly one of Tulsa’s best kept grubbin secrets. As you all know, Reasor’s is a grocery store chain that was founded in the Tulsa area many years ago. They continue to provide an excellent shopping experience today, and even better, they are one of those Oklahoma founded companies that makes me proud to live in this great state.

Now I have heard of restaurants being inside grocery stores before, this is nothing new. Whole foods has a pretty unique restaurant/seating area in their store that serves some food that always hits the spot. What I got at Reasor’s was quite frankly unexpected. First let me say, these guys are generous…so feel free to sample whatever you want and however much you want. The people that work there take pride in what they make, and aren’t no food hussy’s. I never would have imagined that a grocery store would have had their own smoker in the back where they smoked some of the best smoked Briskit I have ever had (One of my favorite foods).

Their food setup has so many options. You are just gonna have to see it for yourself. Fascinated with the fact that they had an Asian woman at her very own Sushi station making Sushi, I decided to go with a couple rolls. For being someone who loves every kind of sushi (except raw octopus), this stuff was dang good! You can see the two rolls I got below. They didn’t actually have raw fish in them, but the consistency of flavor and textures were very satisfying. One of my buddy’s got the Chicken Fried Steak with fried okra & asparagus. He loved it, and for $4.99, the picture says the rest. Matt if you are reading this, tell everyone what you thought of the Chicken Fried Steak.
If you are thinking along the same wavelengths as I am,”I gotta get me sum-a-dis” then check out the picture below of their daily specials Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. I will definitely be back and if anything, I will be going to the grocery store hungry a whole lot more often!

I wonder if they are going to make that the setup for the rest of the Reasors. That would be awesome.

They have been doing some serious revamping of the deli section in the store at 15th and Lewis.

FYI Reasor’s was not started in Tulsa. It began in Tahlequah, OK by Larry Reasor. The first store was located on Choctaw Ave. coming down the hill to Cookies.

FYI…the article states “Tulsa Area”, of which I would definitely include Tahlequah.
